All buildings above 18 metres high have Dry risers
installed. These are used for conveying water to
strategic locations within a building for the use
of fighting fires.
Wet and Dry risers should be checked
and serviced twice a year. The first test comprises
of a wet pressure test to PSI or 10 bar for a minimum
of 15 minutes. All inlets and outlets are checked
for leaks and any missing or faulty items reported.
Flow test are also carried out at this time.
A certificate
will be issued on completion to inform the client
whether the riser has passed or failed.
The second
test is a minor service of all the moving parts,
which is also a British standard requirement. All
testing on wet / dry risers is carried out to BS
5306 part 1.
