A
sprinkler system is an integral system of overhead
piping, designed in accordance with fire protection
engineering standards, and connected via a control
valve to the water supply.
The system is activated
by heat from a fire, and then the sprinklers discharge
water over the fire to extinguisher it.
Sprinkler systems should be serviced on a regular
basis, ideally every six months in accordance with
BS 5306 part 2.
